What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, and Cash. Fees:
Online payments: 5% fee
Tap to Pay: 3.57% fee
Rover.com bookings: 11% fee
Bitcoin: varying fee

What is your cancellation policy?

General Services: More than 7 days = full refund. 
3-7 days = 50% refund. 
Less than 3 days = may or may not refund. 
No-shows are non-refundable.

Overnight Visits: No refunds, but credit for future bookings within 1 year.

Dog Walking: Cancel anytime for credit. Within 24 hours, call the office. If sitter has arrived, visit is charged.
If Montecito Pet Care cancels, you get a full refund at our discretion.

Are vaccinations required for my pet?

Yes. Rabies, distemper, and bordetella are required. 

Puppies need at least two DHPP/DHLPP vaccines. 

Pets must be free of communicable diseases for 30 days before service and free of fleas, ticks, and pests. 

Ill pets will be sent home. 

No proof = service cancellation without refund.

What are your general requirements for pets?

All pets must be free of pests. 

At our facility, pets must arrive leashed or in a carrier. 

Owners must provide accurate contact info, emergency contacts, vet info, medications, and special diets. 

We may refuse aggressive pets. 

Multi-client stays/walks may require behavior evaluations. 

No pitbulls or dogs with prey drive.

How are my keys handled for in-home services?

We recommend a lockbox. Keys on file are coded for security. 

When not in service, they are stored securely. 

Shipping keys is $15

How often will I receive updates about my pet?

Picture & video updates are sent at every visit. 

If you don’t receive one, contact us. 

For those without cell service, we can send email updates.

Should I leave notes for my sitter?

Yes! We read all notes thoroughly. Handwritten notes are considered most up-to-date. Label items like food, meds, lights, and blinds. 

We’ll call if we have questions.

Should I pet-proof my house for in-home services?

Yes. Keep pets away from hazards, store food and meds securely, remove chewable items, empty trash. 

For chewers, create a “Puppy Room” with safe toys. We are not liable for damages if others have access to your home during service.

How will you know I've returned home?

Please notify us as soon as you return so we know your pets are back in your care.

Are there any extra fees?

Extended visit time: extra charge, arranged with you.

Key handling: $15 shipping, $20 extra pickups.

Emergency vet visits: $35/hr (1 sitter), $45/hr (2 sitters) + medical costs.

Rover.com bookings: 11% fee.

What happens in a pet emergency?

We will contact a vet immediately and you for instructions. If unreachable, we proceed with necessary care at your expense. We recommend pet insurance. Critical cases (e.g., bleeding, seizures) go straight to the vet.

Incidents due to sitters negligence is covered under our insurance plan.

Is Montecito Pet Care Services insured?

Yes.
Fully licensed and insured, including pet daycare. Coverage includes:
General Liability: $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate
Property Damage: $10k per occurrence
Animal Bailee: $2,500 per occurrence
Vet Expense Reimbursement: $1,000 per occurrence
Employee Dishonesty: $10,000
Lost Key Liability
Excludes vet services, pre-existing conditions, and certain dog training types.
